I'm Pablo Marchant (full name Pablo Ignacio Marchant Campos) a Chilean born astronomer currently working as assistant professor at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of Ghent University. My main interest is in theoretical stellar evolution, and I've done significant work on the study of single and binary massive star evolution. One of my main scientific interests concerns the formation pathways of gravitational wave sources. The main tool for my work is the MESA open source instrument for stellar evolution, of which I was one of the main developers. Presently exploring a few new things, including the development of a brand new stellar evolution code.
Interested in opportunities within my research team? Then take a look at the jobs section.
Want to learn some of the basics of binary evolution as well as current research developments? I can recommend my contribution to the Encyclopedia of Astrophysics, as well as my contribution to the Annual Reviews. Various resources on stellar evolution and binary evolution are available in the teaching section. If you really want to dig into the subject, I strongly recommend the wonderful textbook written by Thomas Tauris and Ed van den Heuvel.
